we live in the most difficult of times. and with this, we need each other for support and perspective. we need to make noise -- large, loud, and intelligent, angry and passionate, bellow if we must. loud enough to make a difference. all the good people are saying that. and I agree. we here in the U.S. have a less-than-human in charge, so we need to speak up, & we need to watch out for each other.
the images below are altered versions of early peace & war posters, WPA art, public domain, & other work. these cards are part of a personal mail campaign to encourage U.S. citizens to get involved. this website is dedicated to the pleasure and maybe, in this case, the power of postcards.
according to statements posted on the source sites, the original art pieces used are in the public domain or available for political use only, but museum, library, & project staff suggest you check other sources to be sure.
click the images to go to the original work (this is a work in progress. more images and missing links will be added -- i have the links, just haven’t added them all yet).
The first image below is text printed on the back of every card. At the bottom of this page, i’ve listed institutions that were the source of image files and descriptive information used for this project.
write if you have questions or would like a card (free). thanks for visiting & be as well as you can be ... PJ
